Lesli

Lesli Akeo is the Women's Volleyball Head Coach at Menlo College.

We are thrilled to introduce Lesli Akeo as the new head coach of Menlo's women's volleyball team!

Akeo comes to Atherton with a highly impressive resume as both a coach and player. Hailing from Kapolei, Hawaii, Akeo would go on to play at the NCAA Division I level while attending Siena College in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. In her four years she would establish herself as arguably the greatest defensive player in the program's history. The list of her accolades includes being named the 2012-13 Siena College Female Student Athlete of the Year, the 2012-13 MAAC Nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year, and a 2012 Senior Class Award Candidate. She was a two-time team captain as well as the 2011 MAAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, the 2012 MAAC Libero of the Year and a First Team All-MAAC selection. A two-time MAAC All-Tournament Team honoree, Akeo is Siena's all-time leader in both digs (2,285) and digs per-set (5.12). She ranks inside the top-10 in NCAA Division I history in single-season digs with 788 in 2012, and her average of 6.11 digs per-set during the 2012 season ranks as the third-best mark in MAAC single-season history. For her skill on the court, Akeo was inducted into the Siena Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018.

On the sidelines, Akeo comes with an impressive coaching resume as well. Most recently she served as an assistant coach with Syracuse's women's volleyball team in the highly competitive and well known Athletic Coast Conference. Prior to Syracuse, Akeo was an assistant coach with the Temple University Owls. With the Owls she planned and executed group and individual practice sessions, analyzed practice and game film, created scouting reports and assisted with recruiting.

Akeo also spent time coaching at the high school level in her home state of Hawaii. She was an assistant coach at her alma mater, Kamehameha Schools - Kapalama High School, for six seasons, including winning state titles in 2013, 2015, and 2017. While back home she also trained two Hawaii Gatorade State Player of the Years in Alohi Robins 2014 and Lexis Akeo 2018.

When asked about the decision to bring Akeo on board Vice President & Director of Athletics Keith Spataro said: "We are thrilled to have Lesli join our staff…from the beginning of the interview to the end Lesli demonstrated the qualities we felt most aligned with the direction of our department. I am confident she will lead us to great things as members of the PacWest and NCAA."

Coach Akeo expressed her excitement at the chance to lead the Oaks as they embark on their journey into the NCAA saying: "I first want to thank President Steven Weiner, Vice President Keith Spataro, and the rest of the Menlo community for this amazing opportunity. I am humbled to be chosen to lead this program into its inaugural year as a member of the NCAA Division II. During my time on campus everyone was welcoming and brought an energy that resonates during such an exciting time for the athletic department. I look forward to being a part of the 'ohana at Menlo! Go Oaks!"

We can't wait to see such an accomplished athlete and coach join the Oaks community and believe coach Akeo will fit right in among the staff here at Menlo. A new era of Menlo Women's Volleyball is now underway inside Haynes-Prim Pavilion.
