Frankie Nunes
Camp Director
Coach Frankie Nunes is one of Central New Jersey’s most trusted and experienced youth‑development coaches, known for shaping players across all levels, from grassroots athletes to premier‑level standouts. As the Boys Varsity Head Coach at St. Thomas Aquinas High School and the Head of Soccer Programming at Metuchen SportsPlex, Frankie brings a proven track record of teaching, mentoring, and inspiring young athletes in every stage of their soccer journey. With deep roots in New Jersey’s premier club landscape and extensive experience leading high‑level training environments, Frankie is committed to helping every player unlock their potential.
With more than 15 years of dedicated youth coaching experience, Coach Frankie has served as a full‑time staff member at Competitive Soccer Academy, where he played a key role in developing hundreds of players across the region. Prior to that, he worked with several respected New Jersey and tri‑state clubs, including FC Copa, specializing in technical training and goalkeeper development. His impact across these programs has made him a recognizable and respected figure in youth soccer circles throughout the state.
Frankie’s playing journey is just as impressive. As a youth player, he competed for elite tri‑state club teams including the Union Lancers and Ironbound Strikers, earning opportunities to travel internationally to Canada and Portugal for high‑level competition. In high school, he was a four‑year varsity standout at Roselle Catholic, collecting All‑Conference, All‑County, and All‑State Honorable Mention honors.
After high school, Frankie received college offers from Rider University and Ramapo College, while also drawing professional interest from Alianza Lima (Peru) and Deportivo Quito (Ecuador). He ultimately chose to take his career overseas, signing with Ovarense FC in Portugal, and later returning to the U.S. to play semi‑professionally for MetroStars “B” and Sport Club Portuguese.
