Giovanni fragalle bio

Giovanni is currently the Assistant Coach at Westcliff University and Irvine Valley College.

Giovanni Fragalle was born and raised in Brazil, where he played competitive junior tennis and ITF Men’s Circuit. As a junior player Gio became the number one player in the state of São Paulo under 16’s and under 18’s, he also played more than ten ITF Futures and was in the top 80 in the Brazilian Professional Ranking.

Giovanni came to the U.S. to play college tennis on a scholarship and pursue his bachelor’s degree. Gio played for Cypress College where he won the OEC Conference and also was elected the Character Player of the Year by all the conference coaches. Giovanni graduated from Holy Names University in Oakland where he played in the Men’s Tennis Team and received many awards such as Team Spirit of the Year twice, also ITA All American Academics. As a college player Giovanni was the captain of his team and was also part of the SAAC, working with student athletes to improve the school’s program and athletes success.

As a Tennis Pro, Giovanni has many years of experience, he started coaching in Brazil, also coached in Connecticut before moving to California. Giovanni was the coordinator and head pro at Valter Paiva Tennis Academy where he was in charge of the development of the juniors and adults programming as well as summer camps.

As a coach at Westcliff University, Gio took the men’s and women’s team to the semifinal of the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament in the first year of the tennis program in the school's history. At IVC Gio coached the team that made semifinals of the state playoffs.
