Gracie hoidal bio

Gracie Hoidal was a three-year student-athlete at Seattle Pacific University from 2017-2019. After walking on to the team her sophomore year, she competed in multiple boats at SPU, including the varsity 8+, second varsity 8+, and varsity 4+. In her senior year, she was named captain and competed at the NCAA DII Championships for the first time since 2011.

Growing up participating in sports in Everett, Wash., Hoidal missed being on a team and the commitment to working together. She joined SPU’s rowing team with a swimming and volleyball background, unsure of what she was getting into. She quickly fell in love with the community and sport. Swinging from port to starboard side, her boats would go on to compete in 2018 at the inaugural Falcon Regatta, win 1st place at the 2019 Windermere Cup open varsity 8+, and 1st place in the 2019 WIRA’s second varsity 8+.

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Hoidal began her coaching journey in 2019 at a club close to home, North Cascade Crew, in Lake Steven’s, Wash. Coaching novices, juniors, and masters, Hoidal’s perspective on rowing changed completely during her time at NCC. A strong community and dedication to creating a safe and accessible space on and off the water for all are key elements for success individually and as a team. She is grateful for the time being a part of their journey and continues to cheer them on from land.

In addition to coaching, Hoidal is a founding research scientist at BrainChild Bio, committed to treating pediatric brain cancer with CAR T cell therapy.

When she’s not on the water or in the lab, Hoidal enjoys reading, SCUBA diving, live music, and cooking Greek food with her family.

Hoidal is enthusiastic as she’s returned to Seattle Pacific University to coach and is ready for an electrifying era of success in the place that holds the foundation of her journey!
