Henry Cheung
Coach
Henry Cheung is in his fifth season as head women’s soccer coach at Joliet Junior College, where he has built the Wolves into a nationally recognized NJCAA Division III program. He holds a 34‑22‑6 overall record (.597) and has guided JJC to multiple historic milestones.
In 2025, Cheung led Joliet to one of its best seasons ever, finishing 13‑4‑1 with nine shutouts and an 11‑match winning streak — the longest in program history. The Wolves scored 65 goals in 18 matches, ranking fifth nationally, and earned a No. 5 national ranking, the second‑highest in school history.
The 2023 season marked a major breakthrough. Joliet went 12‑2‑3, captured the Region 4 Championship, advanced to the NJCAA Midwest District Tournament, and climbed as high as No. 4 in the national rankings. The Wolves produced six first‑team All‑Region selections, and Cheung was named Region 4 Coach of the Year.
Before joining JJC, Cheung spent two seasons as head coach at Kishwaukee College, where he recruited more than 25 student‑athletes and led the program to unprecedented success. In his second year, the Kougars completed an undefeated Arrowhead Conference season without conceding a goal.
Cheung also brings high school and club experience. He is currently the Head Varsity Boys Soccer Coach at Bolingbrook High School and previously led the varsity boys’ program at Newark High School, where five players earned All‑Conference honors and one was selected to the IHSSCA All‑Sectional Team. His coaching background includes roles with the Chicago Dutch Lions, Chicago House, Chicago Rush South, Chicago Fire Juniors West, and Team Chicago.
He holds a U.S. Soccer “D” License and numerous United Soccer Coaches diplomas, including National and Advanced National certifications, Level 1 Futsal, Attacking and Defending Principles, 11v11 Systems of Play, and Level 1 Goalkeeping. Cheung has also served on staff at elite collegiate camps at Texas A&M University and Grand Valley State University and is an active member of United Soccer Coaches and its Asian/Pacific Islander Coaches Advocacy Group.
Cheung and his wife, Kristin, live in Shorewood with their children — Adriana, Landon, and Ella.
