Camp Coach

Hobie Vannoy - Camp Coach

Hobie Vannoy is an Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach at Chaminade University.

Hobie Vannoy joined the coaching staff of the Chaminade University women's volleyball team in the spring of 2023 and has an extensive collegiate coaching background.

Vannoy comes to Chaminade after spending the previous five seasons at fellow NCAA Division II member Western New Mexico University. He was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Mustangs starting in 2018 before being assigned the role of interim head coach following a coaching change midway through the 2022 season. WNMU had seven All-Lone Star Conference honorees while 67 Mustangs earned Honor Roll status during his time there.

Before coaching at Western New Mexico, Vannoy spent the 2016 year at Emory & Henry College in Emory, Virginia, which, at the time, was a member of NCAA Division III, and finished the season with a 16-13 mark. Four members of the Wasps' squad earned All-Old Dominican Athletic Conference honors with 12 receiving academic all-conference honors.

Vannoy first delved into coaching at his alma mater, Milligan University in Johnson City, Tennessee, serving as a student assistant from 2013-16. He helped in positional training and assisted in helping six members of the Buffaloes earn All-Appalachian Athletic Conference honors.

While he helped coach the women's team, at the same time, Vannoy played for Milligan's men's squad before earning his degree in Multimedia Journalism in 2017. Vannoy departed Milligan as the Buffaloes' career leader in assists and service aces while finishing second in digs.

From there, he decided to go overseas in London, England, playing for the London Lynx Volleyball Club and the University of East London in 2017-18 where Vannoy earned England's NVL Super League honors at setter, helping the Lynx win the BUCS Premier South championship and a BUCS national runner-up finish. While at East London, Vannoy also earned his Master's degree there in Media, Communications and Global Development.

Vannoy is married to Kelli McGhiey Vannoy, a native of Pearl City, O'ahu and an alumnae of Sacred Hearts Academy.
