Jarrett Chirico

Chestnut Hill Jarrett Chirico Headshot

Jarrett is Director of Tennis at Green Valley Country Club and the co-founder of the Chirico Cohen Tennis Academy.

Jarrett's precocious gift and passion for tennis became apparent at the young age of 3, when his Mother, a collegiate tennis player, introduced him to the game. By the time Jarrett was 11 years old he was on the fast track, training at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy on full scholarship. During this time he reached a #1 ranking in the United States (USTA) in boy’s 14’s, 16’s and 18’s singles and doubles, capturing six Super National titles en route. Together, with his brother Christopher, they became the #1 ranked team in the United States in boys 18’s with back-to-back International wins at the Grass Court and Hard Court Championships.

Internationally, Jarrett reached a career high ranking of #15 in the world (ITF) singles, making him the top ranked American junior at the time, as well as ranking top 20 ITF in doubles with his brother. Jarrett competed in all four Grand Slams (US Open, Wimbledon, Australian Open and French Open) and all the other top tier tournaments worldwide. In 2002, he was voted USTA's most promising junior - a title awarded formerly to the likes of Andre Agassi and Marty Fish.

Recognized for his junior tennis achievements and technical merit, Jarrett was featured in numerous Bollettieri developmental videos and novels ("Practice With Purpose", "The Nick Bollettieri Tennis Handbook") and was sponsored by and promoted in many Prince Sports campaigns throughout his career. In his years of competing and training, Jarrett played with some of the best tennis players in the world, namely: Pete Sampras (his idol), Andre Agassi, Yuri Novak, Xavier Malise, Martin Dam, Michael Suk, Max Mirnyi, Marcos Baghdatis, Gael Monfils, Novak Djokovic, John Isner, James Black, Petr Korda, Marcelo Rios, Bob/Mike Bryan, Daniel Nestor, Monica Seles, Mary Peirce, Serena/Venus William, Maria Sharapova, Tatiana Golovin & Jelena Jankovic. Jarrett was also the official hitting partner for former world #2 Tommy Haas, as well as former #1 Vera Zvonareva.

In 2004, after much debate between education and continuing his professional career, Jarrett and his team made a decision to take a coveted tennis scholarship at the University of Virginia. While at UVA, he helped the team reach a #1 NCAA ranking and conquer multiple ACC Conference Championships. Short of graduating from UVA, he transferred to Saint Joseph’s University due to obligations pertaining to playing World Team Tennis for the Philadelphia Freedoms (coached by Billie Jean King), an amazing opportunity difficult to pass up. Jarrett graduated from St. Joseph's having led the team to their highest ranking in school history as Captain and #1 singles and doubles player.

Today, Jarrett Chirico is recreating the Bollettieri Tennis Academy experience in the Northeast and proving that players can be turned into champions with the right opportunities, qualified coaching and smart preparation. Jarrett focuses on understanding a player's goals no matter their background, age or demographic and gives them the tools to achieve their dreams. With a breadth of experience in his tennis arsenal, on top of a keen understanding of the game and the junior tennis mind, Jarrett is investing his passion for tennis in the new generation of USTA's most promising junior and recreational players. He is currently the Director of Tennis as Green Valley Country Club and the co-founder of the Chirico Cohen Tennis Academy.
