Jason Mari

Jason’s love for the game of baseball started at the early age of 5. His dad started him with a wiffle ball set and a plastic tee; from that point on he fell in love with the game.

Jason then went on to play for the local travel baseball team and his middle school team. By the time he was in 6th grade he was playing against 8th graders and continued to excel in the sport when he got to high school. He cemented himself as a middle infielder all throughout his four years at St. Francis Prep. He continued his success at a community college where he won defensive player of the year at shortstop and ranked top 20 in the country for slugging percentage that same year. After community college Jason went on to play LIU post for a year where he redshirted due to injury. Jason wanted to have the full experience of playing college sports away from home and decided to attend Northwestern Oklahoma State University. There he excelled at second base and played in many meaningful games throughout his time there. Now Jason fell in love with the other side of the game of baseball and takes pride in coaching his players. He is now the head coach of Sewanhaka’s Junior Varsity baseball team and the 12u Rockville Centre travel team. Jason is a motivated coach who knows what it takes to get to the next level, and he wants to pass on all his knowledge about the mental and physical side of the game.
