Jay Mason

Jay Mason 150x150

Jay Mason enters his 6th season (7th Year) as the head coach for the Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team in 2022.

The 2021 season saw the team finish tied for 7th in the CCAA conference with an overall record of 8-6-3 and an impressive 4-4-3 in the CCAA. The team had another strong showing placing 6 student-athletes on the All-CCAA Conference Team. Taylor Scott wrapped up a stellar career with the Broncos, scoring five goals and adding five assists this season. For her career, she finished with 19 goals and 11 assists. Ten of her 19 goals were game-winners, which is tied for third all-time in CPP women's soccer history in that category.

Williams will also see her name in the record book for years to come, as she posted the third-best single-season goals against average in program history this year with a 0.58. She already has the program record for best single-season GAA (0.53) which was set in 2019. Williams will also leave CPP as the record holder for best career goals against average of 0.63, and tallied the third-most shutouts in program history with 22.

Barrow led the Broncos in scoring this year with six goals, adding one assist in her final collegiate season. Amaro, Carthan and Faber were instrumental on defense in CPP having the fourth-best goals against average in the CCAA this year at 0.67.

The 2019 campaign saw the team finish 3rd in the CCAA with an overall record of 13-5-3 and an impressive 8-1-3 in the CCAA. Jay was named CCAA Coach of the Year in the CCAA for the 2019 season followed by him and his staff being named the 2019 NCAA Division II West Region Women's Coaching Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches organization.

The Broncos qualified for the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship Tournament for just the fifth time in program history, and for the first time since 2014, snagging an at-large bid and a No. 4 seed in the West Region.

The program also set a new record for lowest goals against average for a season, posting a 0.55 GAA this year, besting the previous record of 0.58 set back in 2001. Goalkeeper Sydney Williams also set the record for lowest individual goals against average for a season with a 0.52 GAA, topping the 2001 record of 0.57 set by Katie Kreps.

Nine CPP women's soccer student-athletes earned All-CCAA awards this season, matching the program record for most in one season, and the most since 2001. All nine Broncos on this year's All-CCAA Team were also first-time selections. Three Broncos -- Taylor Scott, Ambria Pogue and Taylor Rasmussen -- were also named to the 2019 D2 CCA All-West Region squad two weeks ago. The Broncos very own Taylor Scott finished as the CCAA top scorer followed by Allyssa Larkin grabbing the top points for the conference in her sophomore season.

The accolades did not stop there for this group, as they bested their 2018 top GPA in the department of 3.29 with a 3.59 setting a new CPP Athletic Department term GPA for any program in history.

Women's soccer produced a 3.59 in the classroom this Spring, breaking the all-time term GPA record for any sport in the department's history. The team continued to rack up the accolades with 10 student athletes being selected by the CCAA for the ALL Academic Awards.
