Jim Polster is the former Assistant Volleyball Coach at The University of Pacific.

Jim Polster joined the Tigers' staff for the first season as Pacific's Volunteer Assistant Coach in 2013. He took over as a full-time assistant coach in the spring of 2016. Polster came to Pacific as a highly decorated collegiate and international player as both an all-american at Long Beach State and a member of Team USA. He enters his fifth year with the Tigers as he is tasked with working with Pacific's defensive players and primary passers.

With Polster's help, Pacific put together one of its finest defensive seasons in program history in 2014 as the Tigers finished the year ranked No. 10 in the nation in opponent hitting percentage by allowing a measly .145 average against. Of 31 opponents on the year, the Tigers held 11 to sub-.100 hitting and five to .000 or worse.

Joining Team USA in 2001, Polster has most recently been a part of the American's victories at the NORCECA Continental Championship and Americas' Cup in 2007 as well as taking home a silver medal at the Pan American Games and a bronze at the FIVB World League.

While at Long Beach State, Jim earned second-team All-America honors by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) in 2001 as well as being n amed to the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation third team as a senior. Polster earned All-MPSF honors in all four years of action for the 49ers as one of the top outside hitters in the top conference in the nation.
