In 2010, Johanna founded the Dark Harbor Harriers, a team that trains and competes at USATF cross country, road and trail running. The Dark Harbor Harriers also compete at USSSA snowshoeing.

In 2016 Johanna was recognized by UltraRunning Magazine as one of the top 100 50k female ultra runners in the USA. In 2016 and 2017 Johanna qualified for the US Master’s Women’s National Snowshoe Team.
