Josh Beardsley began as an assistant coach for the Truman Men's Basketball team in July 2019. He was previously a graduate assistant coach at William Penn (Iowa) University.

In two seasons with the Statesmen, Beardsley was part of a program that went 52-17 with a pair of trips to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Basketball Tournament. In 2017-18, William Penn finished 30-5 and advanced to the national semifinals. Beardsley’s role with William Penn was to assist Coach John Henry with all duties and responsibilities, including breaking down game film and scouting, national recruiting, academic advising, team travel, fundraising and video and social media. He served as William Penn’s varsity reserve team coach this past season.

Beardsley earned his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University in Civil Engineering and Psychology. He worked as a student assistant coach at Des Moines Area Community College with two regular season conference and regional championships and advancing to national final four and elite eight rounds.

He moved to Midland (Texas) junior college for two more years before heading to William Penn to earn a masters degree in Business Leadership, which was completed this past May.

Beardsley has been a camp advisor at Creighton (Neb.) University, the Tough U Skill Academy in Des Moines and the Snow Valley Basketball Camp in Waverly, Iowa.
