J.R. Tolver

Jr Tolver Sdsu Bio

Tolver was an All-Mountain West Conference First Team wide receiver from San Diego State University and a former NFL wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys.

Tolver finished his collegiate career with 262 receptions for 3,572 yards and 17 touchdowns. During his standout senior season, Tolver had 128 catches for 1,785 yards and 12 touchdowns that earned him Mountain West Conference as the Player of the Week three times and All-Mountain West Conference First Team.

In the 2003 NFL Draft, Tolver was selected in the 5th round as the 169th pick by the Miami Dolphins. Tolver was then added to the Dallas Cowboys practice squad after a short stint with the Carolina Panthers. From there he joined the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League and finally landed in the Arena Football League and signed a contract with the Los Angeles Avengers in 2008.

Tolver was named the head coach of the Sage Hill School football team in 2009. As head coach for five years, Sage Hill School went 23-30 with two-winning seasons finishing runner-up in the league title race twice and qualifying for the playoffs three times. In his time at Sage Hill School, Tolver also served as athletic director for a few years.
