Kent Simmons
Coach
Simmons has coached XC for the past 23 years at Harrison High School. He served as assistant coach for eight years having coached one individual cross country state champion and two team state championships. He is now in his 15th year as co-head coach, having coached one individual XC state champion and numerous top 10 finishers.
His teams have won one state championship, fourteen region championships and have two state runner-up finishes. Simmons was named Cobb County Coach of the Year for Girls XC in 2003, 2005 and 2016. He ran track in high school and was a 2X State qualifier in the 300m hurdles. He has been running for 25 years and has completed two marathons as well as numerous other races at various distances. Coach Simmons has been a staff coach at SMRC for 12 years.
