Khary Bailey Smith

Khary Bailey-Smith is orignally from Boston, Massachusetts and currently work as an educator. From a young age, he had a passion for sports, and throughout his years at Weymouth high school, he excelled as a 3 sport athlete in football, basketball, and track.

In football, he had the privilege of being the team captain and received numerous accolades, including being named a two-time All Scholastic player and a two-time League All-Star. Additionally, he had the honor of participating in the Shriners All-Star game in 2012 and was recognized as the recipient of the Doug Flutie Award the same year. He is most recently a first ballot inductee into the Weymouth Athletics Hall of Fame.

On the basketball court, he showcased his skills as a League All-Star, contributing to the success of the team.

However, in track and field he truly distinguished himself. He attained the title of 3x All Scholastic and 3x League All-Star. He set a meet record in the freshman-sophomore category for high jump for the MSTCA. As a high jumper, he achieved great heights, winning the D1 high jump championship twice and the D1 long jump championship once. Furthermore, he claimed victory as the All State High Jump champion twice and emerged as the champion in the Decathlon at the 2012 MSTCA South Sectional. He holds the school records for participating in the 4x100m relay and high jump, with an impressive 7-foot jump.

His exceptional performances in track and field attracted attention, and I received Division 1 offers from UCONN, High Point, and PITT. Additionally, he was offered a Division 1 football scholarship by UMASS that he ultimately accepted.

During his time at UMASS, he continued to shine as a football player, assuming the role of team captain. Over the course of his career, he accumulated 220 tackles, 8 interceptions, and 2 touchdowns.

After his college football career, he pursued opportunities at the professional level, trying out for the New England Patriots in 2017 and participating in the San Francisco 49ers Rookie Mini Camp that same year.

In addition to his athletic endeavors, he ventured into coaching. He served as the Offensive Coordinator for Legacy New England and focused on coaching defensive backs and special teams at Weymouth High. He also dedicated his skills to basketball, assuming the role of Head JV/Varsity Assistant at Hull High School and at Weymouth High. Furthermore, he contributed to coaching high jump and sprints for Weymouth High.

Driven by a desire to make a positive impact on young athletes, he founded and currently serve as the President of "TooMorrow," a leadership and development program aimed at preparing high school-aged athletes for college. Through a combination of education, athletics, and mentorship, he cultivate college-ready student-athletes.
