Director

Kiah Ferrell - Director

Avon Head Softball Coach, Kiah Ferrell, is a 2016 graduate of Plainfield High School where she was a 12-varsity letter winner in volleyball, basketball, and softball. During her time in high school Kiah was a part of two sectional championships, a county championship, and was named All-county and All-conference in softball.

During Ferrell’s senior year her team set the homerun record for the State of Indiana (37 total/11 individually). She was also named PHS’ 2016 female athlete of the year and later won the ICGSA softball scholarship for the State of Indiana. After her college playing days were done, Ferrell began her coaching career at her alma mater under her former high school coach Brad Beaman. Ferrell was tasked the role of pitching coach where she helped lead Plainfield to the conference’s second-best ERA in just her first season. During her second stint her staff threw 3 no-hitters and had the best record since 2016 which happened to be her senior year.

Ferrell played collegiately at Southeastern University and Indiana University South Bend. As a freshman she played in all 51 games for top 25 ranked SEU as they made the National Tournament two years in a row. At IUSB Ferrell help set a team win record and threw the first no-hitter in program history. Kiah rounded off her accomplishments by being named a Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athlete her senior year.

Ferrell earned her bachelor’s from IUSB and went on to get a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from Butler University in 2022. Ferrell is now employed as a Physician Assistant at Ascension St. Vincent in the trauma department. In her spare time Kiah coaches basketball at Plainfield High School, as well as giving hitting and pitching lessons.
