Kyle Segler has been a member of football staffs that have guided Sam Houston to a 74-25 record, three Southland Conference championships and six consecutive NCAA playoff appearances since 2010.

With Segler at the helm, punter Joseph Figenshaw became the second straight Bearkat punter to earn first team all-SLC honors, while freshman kick returner Jaylen Harris was a second team choice after becoming the first Bearkat returner to ever surpass 1,000 return yards in a season.

The Bearkats' 7,975 yards total offense last fall marked a Southland Conference season record and stands third all-time in NCAA Division I FCS history. The Kat attack also led the Southland in rushing and red zone offense.

As tight ends coach, he has tutored two All-Southland performers (T. J. Jones and Shane Young).

Working with the Bearkat tackles, Segler has worked with Donald Jackson III earned All-America and All-Southland first team honors each of the past two years. Jackson was a first-team selection on five All-America squads in 2015 including the American Football Coaches Association, Associated Press and STATS FCS honor squads. He also was named as Southland Conference Offensive Tackle of the Year.

Segler was an offensive lineman for Sam Houston's 2004 Southland Conference championship squad that reached the NCAA semifinals.

He coached at Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas, helping start up a football program that had been shut down since 1945.

He holds two degrees from Sam Houston with his Bachelor's degree in kinesiology and his Master's degree in sports management.

Segler is a graduate of A&M Consolidated High School in College Station. As a stand-out offensive lineman he is a member of the A&M Consolidated Hall of Fame. His wife, Ashley, played softball for Sam Houston.
