Mc Call Salmon Nike Softball Camps

McCall Salmon is in her fifth season as the head coach for the softball program. She has spent 10 years total with DU after five years as the top assistant/associate head coach. She has been on staff since the beginning of the program in 2009. In the nine seasons she has been at DU, the program has never had a losing season.

In the 2017 season, Davenport had their greatest season in program history. The team finished with an overall record of 49-10 establishing a record number of wins. DU won the WHAC regular season and tournament championship and won their first NAIA Opening Round which they hosted May 15-17. The Panthers defeated Hastings, Olivet Nazarene and then Rio Grande twice to advance to Clermont, Florida for the NAIA World Series. In the World Series they accomplished something no other WHAC school has when they won twice defeating Indiana Wesleyan (3-2) and Ottawa (4-0) in elimination games. They lost twice to LSU Alexandria in the World Series and finished the season ranked No. 5 in the NAIA in the final poll. Alexa Flores was named NFCA Second Team All-American as a freshman while Lauren French and Mallory Teunissen were also named NFCA All-Region. The 2017 team had the second-most hits (508) in program history and the most doubles (104) and stolen bases (84). The team also posted 15 shutouts during the season and allowed the fewest amount of runs (115).

The Panthers posted a 39-12 record during the 2016 season and captured both the WHAC regular season and tournament titles. The team hosted the NAIA Opening Round but could not advance further in the postseason. Emily Maves earned Honorable Mention All-American, First Team All-Region, First Team All-WHAC and WHAC Pitcher of the Year honors. McKenzie Rowe was named First Team All-Region. Mallory Teunissen was named Second Team All-Region, First Team All-WHAC and WHAC Newcomer of the Year.

In 2015, Salmon guided the Panthers to a 42-10 record and won a share of the WHAC title with a 15-3 conference record. Under her guidance, Davenport won the WHAC Tournament title and made their third straight appearance in the NAIA Opening Round.

She coached the WHAC Player of the Year and NAIA and NFCA 1st Team All-American in KC Dunne, along with WHAC Pitcher of the Year and NAIA Honoranle Mention All-American in Emily Maves during the 2015 season.

In her first season at the helm of the program in 2014, Salmon led the Panthers to a 38-10 overall record including a 16-2 WHAC record to claim the regular season (2011, 2012) and conference (2011, 2013) championship for the third time in program history. Davenport returned to the NAIA National tournament for the third time in four years finishing 2-2 overall and falling in the opening round championship game.

In 2014 she saw one player earn NAIA 2nd Team All-American honors, NFCA 1st Team & 2nd Team All-American, five All-Conference selections, including the WHAC Player of the Year and also Newcomer of the Year along with being named an NAIA Scholar team for a cumulative GPA of 3.463.

A first baseman/utility player for the Saints, McCall led her team to three straight WHAC Championships from 2005-2007 and the team posted a 134-70 overall record during her time there. Individually, Salmon earned All-WHAC honors in 2004, 2006 and 2007 while serving as the Saints team captain during her junior and senior campaigns. She also excelled in the classroom at Aquinas as she was named to the All-WHAC Academic team in 2006 and 2007 and was an NAIA Scholar Athlete in her senior year. At the completion of her senior year, Salmon was also honored with the prestigious Helen Louise Brogger Award which is given to the top female athlete in the graduating class.

Salmon received a Bachelor of Science degree from Aquinas in Business Administration and Sports Management and her Master of Art degree in Sport Administration at Central Michigan.

McCall lives in Grand Ledge, Mich. with her husband Paul and children - Colt and Kayla.
