Kylin Munoz

Kylin Munoz is the Associate Head Volleyball Coach at Utah Valley University.

Head Utah Valley University women’s volleyball coach Sam Atoa has announced the promotion of Kylin Muñoz to the associate head coach on his staff.

Muñoz, who previously spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons as an assistant coach for the Wolverines, now enters her third season of coaching at UVU. She also previously served as the program's Director of Volleyball Operations for the 2017 campaign.

Muñoz has helped the Wolverines excel both on the court and in the classroom during her time at Utah Valley, as she's coached a total of seven all-conference performers, which includes the WAC Freshman Year in 2018 in Kazna Tarawhiti. She has also helped UVU make its first national postseason appearance as well as win its first national postseason match in program history in 2018 when the team earned an at-large bid into the National Invitational Volleyball Championship. Muñoz also helped the Wolverine volleyball team earn the AVCA Team Academic Award in both 2018 and 2019, and is a member of UVU's 2020 Apple Training Institute Team.

In the summer of 2019, Muñoz took part at the NCAA Women Coaches Academy (WCA). The WCA was hosted in partnership between WeCOACH and the NCAA.

As a player, Muñoz was a four-year letterwinner for the Washington Huskies, from 2009-13, and a four-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree. She also earned AVCA All-Region and Pac-12 All-Conference accolades during her junior campaign. Muñoz, who helped lead to Washington to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances, capped her standout collegiate career by leading the Pac-12 Huskies to an NCAA Final Four appearance in 2013.

Muñoz is a graduate of the 2019 NCAA Women Coaches Academy class #47 that was held in Denver, CO. The NCAA Women Coaches Academy, hosted in partnership between WeCOACH and the NCAA, is a 4-day educational training available to NCAA coaches of all experience levels, and is designed for women coaches who are ready to increase their individual effectiveness by learning advanced skills and strategies that directly affect their personal and team success.

Upon graduation, Muñoz then spent time training with the U.S. Women’s National Team, as well as playing professionally overseas as a co-captain for the Aurubis Volleyball Club in Hamburg, Germany from 2014-15.

As an outside and right side hitter herself during her playing days, Muñoz will work primarily with Utah Valley’s pin hitters and offense, as well assisting in recruiting, game film, statistical analysis, as well as many additional responsibilities.

Hailing from Monroe, Wash. (Monroe HS), Muñoz also excelled on the volleyball court during her high school days as she was tabbed the 2008 Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Washington. She also earned AVCA First Team All-American honors as well as a barrage of other accolades in her prep career.
