Lindsay kibler linfield womens lacrosse

Lindsay Kibler is in her third season as Linfield women's lacrosse coach.

Under Kibler's leadership, the Wildcats climbed as high as second place in the Northwest Conference standings during her first season as coach in 2019. A year later, the Wildcats were off to a promising 2-1 start before the COVID-19 virus caused cancelation of the remainder of the season.

Kibler played one year of varsity lacrosse at Indiana University of Pennsylvania before transferring to the University of Kentucky where she played three more seasons as a goalkeeper with UK’s highly competitive club program.

She graduated from Kentucky in 2012, earning a bachelor’s degree in animal science. Kibler completed her master’s degree last fall in sport coaching through the University of Denver.

Her previous coaching experience includes jobs as assistant coach for one year at Asbury University and two seasons as lead assistant at Whitman College. Most recently, she was head girls lacrosse coach at Lakeridge High School in Lake Oswego, leading that program to the 2018 Silver Cup, the Oregon Girls Lacrosse Association’s state championship.

In addition, Kibler directs The Tenacity Project, a Portland-based company that focuses on development of high-school age lacrosse players. She is head coach of the Tenacity Elite 2019 and 2021 youth teams, which competes regionally and nationally.

Kibler believes the most important element in leading the program forward is building team camaraderie within the program. “A huge piece of being successful is team bonding,” she said. “It’s about having girls who want to be together and stay together through good times and hard times. Implementing an accountability factor is very important.”

According to Kibler, the kind of student-athletes who best fit within her program “are passionate about wanting to consistently work out and be part of a successful exercise routine. They need to build not only endurance but body awareness and be proactive and enjoy working hard within an exercise program.”

Linfield was the first Northwest Conference institution to add women’s lacrosse as a varsity sport in 2002 after competing for five years as a club program. Women’s lacrosse became an official NWC sport in 2015 with five inaugural members.
