Maciek Sykut joined the Duke men's tennis program in July 2020, as an assistant coach.

Sykut returns to the ACC from the University of Arizona where he helped build the program the past three years, earning a promotion to associate head coach in June of 2019. Previously, Sykut spent three years coaching at NC State and played at Florida State.

Before the 2020 season was cut short due to COVID-19, Sykut assisted the Wildcats to an 11-3 record while reaching as high as No. 23 in the national rankings. During his stint at Arizona, the Wildcats' team ranking improved from No. 107 to No. 29 from 2017 to 2019, while garnering the highest-ranked recruiting class in program history at No. 6 in 2020. In 2019, he led the program to its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2010 and guided the team to three consecutive PAC 12 wins for the first time in 20 years. At Arizona, he coached three PAC 12 All-Conference selections, six PAC 12 All-Academic honorees, an NCAA singles qualifier and an ITA Southwest Rookie of the Year in Jonas Ziverts.

Before his time out west, Sykut spent a year in Raleigh, N.C. at NC State – returning to where he began his coaching career. While at NC State, he coached two All-ACC selections.

Prior to his time with the Wolfpack, Sykut served as the director of junior tennis at North Ridge Country Club in 2014. He began his collegiate coaching career at NC State in 2012 and helped the program to two consecutive NCAA appearances during his two seasons on campus.

At the professional level, Sykut ranked as high as No. 578 in the ATP singles rankings and No. 145 in doubles. During his career, he won 13 ITF Pro Circuit doubles events and a pair of ATP Challenger doubles titles.

Collegiately, Sykut played at FSU from 2005-2009 where he racked up 175 career victories to rank third all-time in program history. His 93 singles wins are second all-time while his 82 doubles feats are fifth in the Seminole record book. Sykut graduated from FSU in 2009 with a bachelor of science in economics.
