Marshall Mordecai

Arkansas State women’s tennis head coach Sujay Lama announced ahead of the 2023-24 season that Marshall Mordecai has joined his coaching staff as an assistant coach.

Mordecai joined the Red Wolves after a five-year stint as junior program coordinator at the Goldfield Tennis Center in Denton, Texas. In his five years as program coordinator, Mordecai directed the 10 and under, Middle School, and High-Performance programs at the Goldfield Tennis Center. He was responsible for lesson plans, scheduling coaches, and creating an enthusiastic atmosphere for all players. He coached a top-10 ranked player in UIL 4A high school tennis while working with Bad Dawg Tennis as well as other state-ranked players.

Mordecai earned valuable coaching experience last year as the head coach at Denton Calvary Academy. He was the high school and middle school boy’s and girl’s coach and the team finished top 10 in the state in TAPPS 3A for the 2022-23 season. He spent the 2020-21 season as the team manager for North Texas women’s tennis where he aided in recruitment, assisted with practice sessions, strung rackets, and other various tasks.

A 2021 graduate of North Texas, Mordecai holds a bachelor’s of science degree in recreation, events and sports management with a minor in social science.
