Matt LoPiccolo joined the Duke coaching staff in the fall of 2013 as an assistant track & field coach under the direction of Associate Head Coach Shawn Wilbourn.

LoPiccolo helped the Blue Devil sprinters see one of the most successful seasons in Duke history in 2015. The women’s 4x400 squad, comprised of Lauren Hansson, Elizabeth Kerpon, Madeline Kopp and Maddy Price, earned first team All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships after racing to a sixth-place finish with a school-record time of 3:32.56. On the men’s side, Brett Bofinger also claimed first team All-America status as a member of the men’s distance medley relay that finished seventh at the national indoor meet. During the outdoor season, Bofinger joined Robert Rohner, Michael Wilson and Chaz Hawkins to set the program record in the 4x400, clocking a 3:09.21.

Prior to Duke, LoPiccolo held the head coach track & field position at SUNY Oneonta University from 2000-13. LoPiccolo also placed a heavy emphasis on academics while coaching at Oneonta, as evidenced by the 22 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team individual award winners he has coached over his thirteen-year career.

LoPiccolo earned a B.A. in mathematics and an M.A. in Administration and Leadership, both from Plattsburgh State University of New York. In 1998, LoPiccolo earned All-American honors while competing for Plattsburgh in the 800-meters.
