Matt Moore Bio

Matt Moore was elevated to Interim Head Coach of the Butler women's tennis program prior to the 2018-19 season.

Moore served as an assistant coach for the Butler program during the 2017-18 campaign.

In Moore's only season as an assistant with the Bulldogs, the program matched its highest win total in its five seasons as a member of the BIG EAST Conference. Butler also was recognized by the NCAA with a Public Recognition Award for ranking among the top 10 percent of their respective sports based on their most recent multiyear Academic Progress Rates (APR). The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams.

Butler's women's tennis program is among just 85 teams that have earned NCAA Public Recognition Awards every year of the 13-year-old program.

Prior to joining the Bulldogs, Moore spent nine seasons on the tennis coaching staff at Zionsville (Ind.) High School. He led both the boys' and the girls' programs to 16 sectional championships, four regional championships, and a trip to the team state finals. Moore also coached several doubles teams to the state finals in the individual tournament. Moore finished his career at Zionsville with a combined record of 150-92 and two Hoosier Crossroads Conference Coach of the Year Awards.

Off the court, Moore established Zionsville as a model program for developing the “complete” student-athlete. His tennis programs raised more than $90,000 for charitable organizations across Central Indiana, and consistently earned Academic Team All-State honors and scholar-athlete distinctions.

In addition to his time at Zionsville, Moore serves the tennis community as a Board and Managing Member of the Central Indiana Tennis Association (CITA), as a Board Member for the Pearson Automotive Tennis Club (PATC), and as a teaching professional at PATC.

Moore also serves as an Assistant Professor for the Ball State University Department of Social Work. He specializes in Sport Social Work, examining wellness and development factors of collegiate athletes. Moore is the Co-Founder of the National Alliance of Social Workers in Sports, has over 40 national and international conference presentations, and multiple publications focusing on athlete well-being. He earned his BA in Philosophy and Psychology from Hanover College, his MSW from Indiana University, and his PhD from Indiana University.

As a student-athlete at Hanover, Moore earned all-conference honors while also being named Team MVP and Team captain.

Moore resides in Hamilton County with his wife (Lindsay) and three kids (Brooklyn, Bronson, and Maverick).
