Micah Briscoe is the Women's Head Volleyball Coach at Arizona Christian University.

For Micah Briscoe the 2023 season is his seventh as the head coach of Arizona Christian Women’s Volleyball. Coach Briscoe is in his sixth year as the Director of Volleyball at Arizona Christian University.

Under Coach Briscoe, the Firestorm have produced eight All-GSAC performers including a Libero of the Year winner.

A COVID shortened season in 2020-21- played mostly in the spring- saw Coach Briscoe pass the 50 coaching win plateau. Arizona Christian set program season bests with 11.94 kills, 11.21 assists, and 20.38 digs per set.

ACU Women’s Volleyball produced a 17-14 overall record in 2019. Seventeen wins creates a new ACU season high win total since joining the GSAC in 2012. The Firestorm established new program season records in kills (1,283), attacks (4,110), assists (1,213), digs (1,878), and total blocks (226.5).

The 2018 women’s volleyball season was a success for Coach Briscoe and the Firestorm as they finished the season with 15 total wins including a program best 11 GSAC wins. The 15 overall wins was the third most in program history. Coach Briscoe guided the Firestorm to their second consecutive GSAC playoff appearance and fifth straight NAIA Scholar-Team recognition. The Firestorm also had two players recognized as All-GSAC, one as an NAIA All-American Honorable Mention and four players receiving Scholar-Athlete recognition by the GSAC and NAIA.

In the 2018-19 athletic year, Coach Briscoe took on the title of Director of Volleyball at Arizona Christian University. He oversaw the launch of women’s beach volleyball and men’s volleyball in the spring of 2019.

In 2017, Coach Briscoe guided women’s volleyball to their first appearance in the GSAC Volleyball Tournament. ACU WVB produced their first All-GSAC player while securing their second most overall wins since joining the GSAC.

During the 2016 season Coach Briscoe helped as a volunteer assistant with the ACU program. The previous three to four years, Briscoe served as the Director of the Arizona Region Junior Beach Program as well as the boys head coach at Barry Goldwater High School and Deer Valley Middle School.

The 2016-17 seasons have been the culmination of Briscoe’s hard work. The Deer Valley Unified School District just announced Briscoe as the Coach of the Year after he led DVMS to the Division I Championships for the first time ever and they advanced all the way to the championship match. At BGHS, the team currently has the best record in the ten year recorded history of the program.

Mixed into his work history, Briscoe has spent time as a youth pastor, teacher’s aide, instructional assistant, and assistant tennis coach. Along with volunteering at ACU, he has donated his time as part of the worship team and a small group leader at church while serving at the Chris Ridge Retirement Center, Steve Nash basketball camps, and traveled to Mexico on mission trips.

Prior to coaching, he played one season of men’s volleyball at both Grand Canyon University and Columbia Bible College (Canada). He also spent one season on the tennis team of Paradise Valley College. At all three stops, Briscoe earned academic and athletic scholarships including twice earning a Presidential scholarship.

The three time Arizona Region Beach Volleyball Champion was once crowned the US Beach Tour Champion at the U22 level.

Academically, Coach Briscoe graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Christian Studies from Grand Canyon University in December 2011.

Coach Briscoe and his wife, Daniela, have three daughters- Grace, Brook, and Joy- and a son- John. The Briscoes attend New Promise Christian Fellowship in Phoenix.
