Matt Sloan - Assistant Coach

A former all-conference and all-region selection during his time as a men’s soccer player at Fordham, Matt Sloan has returned to Rose Hill as an assistant coach.

Sloan comes home to the Bronx after spending the 2023 season as the head coach at Molloy University, a Division II program on Long Island. Sloan took the job in Rockville Centre after serving as a volunteer assistant coach with the Rams in 2022, a season that saw three Rams earn All-Atlantic 10 honors, highlighted by Timo Hummrich garnering First Team All-Atlantic 10 accolades.

Sloan’s coaching tenure started immediately after his collegiate playing career came to a close. Sloan joined the Rams in 2020-21 and promptly anchored the team to an Atlantic 10 title. He earned Most Outstanding Player honors at the conference championship after scoring two goals in as many games to give the Rams their fourth A-10 title in program history. He also earned First Team All-Region accolades from United Soccer Coaches that spring after topping the team with four goals and nine points. The following fall, Sloan started 14 of his 17 appearances, tying for the team lead with four goals and adding three assists for 11 points. For his efforts, Sloan was rewarded with a spot on the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team.

A 2020 graduate of American University, Sloan appeared in 46 games over three seasons in Washington, D.C., thrice earning selection to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

A native of Hicksville, N.Y., Sloan was a two-time Nassau County Player of the Year and a 2016 United Soccer Coaches All-American at Hicksville High School.
