Michael O’Connor brings years of high‑level coaching experience and a deep passion for developing young players to Nike Soccer Camps, making him an ideal mentor for athletes looking to grow their game. Entering his third season with the Claremont‑Mudd‑Scripps (CMS) Women’s Soccer program in 2025, O’Connor plays a key role in the team’s success as both an assistant coach and the program’s recruiting coordinator. His ability to teach, motivate, and connect with youth players has made him a standout figure in Southern California soccer.
O’Connor has worked alongside CMS Head Coach David Nolan across multiple programs, including a successful run at William Jessup University, where the staff engineered an impressive turnaround, highlighted by an 11‑game unbeaten streak and the program’s first‑ever postseason berth. His previous work at Pomona‑Pitzer helped propel the Sagehens to the NCAA Division III Final Four in 2019, the best finish in program history, and contributed to the development of nationally recognized collegiate talent.
Beyond the college game, O’Connor has a long and impactful track record in youth soccer, having coached with several respected Southern California clubs. His experience includes roles with San Clemente Surf Soccer Club, Desert United Soccer, Arsenal Soccer Club, and Spartans Soccer Club, where he has worked with hundreds of young players at various stages of development. His player‑first approach, attention to detail, and ability to teach technical skills make him an invaluable influence for rising youth athletes.
A Riverside, California native, O’Connor played collegiately at La Sierra University before earning a degree in audio engineering from the Art Institute of California. He also holds a U.S. Soccer D License and a Level 2 United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping License, reflecting his commitment to ongoing education and coaching excellence.
