Michael Scott
Camp Co-Director
A proven leader in the female collegiate and youth game, Michael Scott enters his third season as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at McDaniel College in 2026, bringing a track record of excellence, player development, and competitive success.
In his first season, Scott guided the Green Terror to the second round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship and a Centennial Conference semifinal appearance, finishing second in the regular season and producing six all‑conference selections. His staff earned Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year honors, marking an impressive start to his head‑coaching tenure.
Scott’s early impact set new standards for the program, earning his first career win with a commanding 4–0 victory over Goucher and elevating McDaniel to a No. 13 national ranking in the United Soccer Coaches Top‑25 and No. 1 in Region V, the first top regional ranking in program history. His promotion to head coach in 2024 followed seven seasons as an assistant, during which the team won more than 70% of its matches (81‑29‑14), made five postseason appearances, advanced to three NCAA tournaments, and captured the 2021 Centennial Conference Championship alongside back‑to‑back ECAC titles in 2018 and 2019.
Known for his tactical knowledge and ability to elevate female athletes, Scott helped produce multiple All‑Americans, all‑region selections, and key wins over national powers including No. 1 Messiah, No. 8 Johns Hopkins, and No. 17 Swarthmore. Beyond the college game, he expands his youth development impact through coaching with Baltimore Celtic Soccer Club, one of the region’s premier programs.
A native of Fife, Scotland, Scott was an elite player himself, a four‑year starter at UMBC, where he won three America East Championships, served as team captain, earned All-America East Second Team honors, and helped lead the Retrievers to the 2014 NCAA College Cup semifinals. His playing career continued with Christos FC, where he won a national championship in 2016. Academically, Scott holds a Master of Science in Kinesiology and Exercise Science, is completing a Master of Education in Physical Education and Coaching, and maintains an extensive coaching portfolio, including U.S. Soccer D, F, Grassroots, 7v7, and 11v11 licenses, as well as Scottish FA Level 1 and 2 badges.
Bringing international insight, collegiate success, and a deep commitment to developing young women on and off the field, Scott provides a championship‑caliber coaching presence that inspires athletes to reach new heights.
