Mo Smith
Director
Mo Smith is an accomplished collegiate women’s basketball coach with over two decades of experience as a player and coach, including head coaching stops at Flagler College and Georgia College.
Currently in his role as the 19th head women’s basketball coach at Flagler College since June 9, 2019, he has guided the Saints to consistent top-three Peach Belt Conference finishes in scoring, three-point field goals made, rebounding, and free throw percentage, while leading the league multiple times in free throw shooting and ranking among conference leaders in three-point accuracy and defensive efficiency.
Under his leadership, Flagler has produced multiple All-Peach Belt Conference selections, including a Defensive Player of the Year, a First Team All-PBC honoree, an Elite 18 Award recipient, and numerous Academic All-Conference student-athletes. Prior to Flagler, he spent nine seasons as head coach at Georgia College (2010–2019), where he compiled 195 career wins, led the Bobcats to three Peach Belt Conference Tournament Championship game appearances—including a title in 2010–11—and guided the program to an NCAA Division II Southeast Regional appearance. His teams advanced to multiple NCAA Tournament and Sweet 16 appearances during his time as both a head coach and assistant.
A Georgia College alumnus, he earned a B.S. in Psychology and an M.S. in Public Administration, was a Second Team All-Conference student-athlete, and a member of the program’s Elite Eight team before beginning his coaching career as a graduate assistant on a conference championship and NCAA Sweet 16 squad. He spent 18 years at Georgia College as a player and coach and is married to former Georgia College student-athlete Martine Thomas; they have two daughters, Jaiden and Olivia.
