Nadia Abdala - Camp Director

Nadia Abdala was promoted to head coach in June 2022 after eight seasons as an assistant coach for the Torero women's tennis program. Abdala made an immediate impact with the program in the recruiting department helping the Toreros land some outstanding national and international players over the past eight seasons. Over her last three seasons as assistant coach, USD earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament three times and accumulated an overall record of 48-17 during that span.

Abdala is a three-time Southwest Region's Assistant Coach of the Year by the ITA (2015-16, 2018-19 & 2020-21), and she joined the Torero family for the 2014-15 season after competing on the WTA professional tour and coaching junior players in the La Jolla school system.

In her time with USD, she has helped lead the Toreros reach the nation's top-40 rankings in the last three seasons (2020, 2021, and 2022) while the Toreros reached the NCAA Tournament as a team in 2019 and 2021. In a shortened 2020 season, both of USD's top players were ranked.

In 2020, Abdala helped USD land the nation's No. 14 recruiting class.

She guided Solymar Colling to All-American honors in 2019, in addition to appearances in the NCAA Singles Championships in 2021 and 2022.

Abdala was a standout player while at Arizona State University (2006-2010). She was lettered in four NCAA team appearances; three NCAA singles appearances and one doubles NCAA appearance. She was a part of a top 25 Pac-10 program, yet also found great success nationally in both doubles and singles. Abdala received a career-high ranking of No. 11 doubles (2008), while being tabbed at No. 19 in singles (2008).

After college, Abdala transitioned to the WTA professional tour. Achieving a ranking as high as No. 517 in the world in singles and No. 524 in doubles. She was recognized by the ITF for being one of three players to jump more than 500 spots in the rankings in 2011. Abdala competed twice in the international Federation Cup tournament representing Mexico.

Abdala is a 2020 masters graduate of USD’s Leadership Studies program. She is a 2010 graduate of Arizona State University and is from Mexico City, Mexico. She received her Bachelor's degree in Communications while at Arizona State.
