Naz Karagoz

Coach

Naz Karagöz joined the Washington College men's and women's tennis staff in September 2023. In September 2024 she was named the Associate Head Coach.

Karagöz helped guide the Shorewomen to Centennial Conference Tournament in 2024 and on the men’s side saw Karl Hoegstedt land All-CC first team honors for the third straight season. In her second season with Shoremen and Shorewomen Tennis in 2025, both teams earned a spot in the conference tournament with Sihoo Kim earning CC Rookie of the Year on the men’s side. The men's squad also was ranked nationally for the first time in 18 years in 2025.

Karagöz boasts an impressive resume as a former Division I tennis player. The Turkey native opened her collegiate career at Tulane University where she played for three years. During her freshman campaign, Karagöz earned an All-American Athletic Conference selection and received the team's newcomer of the year award after an 15-11 overall record. In her sophomore year, Karagöz began to play as the No.1 singles player for Tulane and went 2-0 at the American Conference Championships, recording the team's only point against champion Tulsa. Karagöz continued at the top spot for the Green Wave in her junior season.

In 2019, Karagöz transferred to Norfolk State for a graduate year with the Spartans. She became the program's first MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Player of the Year with a 9-1 season as the Spartans top singles player. Her efforts led NSU to its first-ever MEAC Northern Division regular season title.

Karagöz has also competed successfully on the professional tour, reaching a career high of 966 WTA singles ranking and a career-high ITF World Junior singles ranking of 269 in 2012. She was also a member of the Turkish National team. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Management & Marketing from Tulane and a Master's of Mass Communication and Public Relations from Norfolk State.
