Nick Childs

Nick Childs enters into his second season in 2018 as assistant baseball coach of the Ranger baseball program. He began his duties in October 2016.

Childs spent time at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma serving as the program pitching coach. Childs also worked as the camp director, outfielders coach and first-base coach during his time at USAO. As the pitching coach, Childs helped the pitching staff to lead the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) in Strikeouts (603) and opponent batting average (.209). The staff also ranked second in the NAIA with a 2.56 ERA.

The pitching staff also featured a 7th round draft pick and free agent signee who were both All-Americans. In the one year Childs spent at USAO, they set a record for wins in a season, won the first conference championship in school history, and qualified for the NAIA World Series for the first time in school history

Prior to the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Childs assumed the graduate assistant role for the baseball team at the University of Northern Colorado where he earned his Master’s degree in Sports Administration.

In the summer of 2016 Childs served as the head coach for the Brighton Generals, a member of the Mile High Collegiate Baseball League (MHCBL). The previous year, Childs was the pitching coach for the Greeley Grays, another member of the MHCBL.

From 2011-14 Childs was a part of the Colorado State University coaching staff assuming the role of pitching coach from 2011-13, and then taking over as the head coach in 2013-14. As the head coach, Childs led the team to a 41-30 record, a regional championship and an appearance in the National Club Baseball Association (NCBA) World Series.

Childs is a Colorado native, originally from Cherry Creek. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and Technical Communication, concentration in news/editorial from Colorado State University in 2011, furthering his education at the University of Northern Colorado where he earned a Master of Science Degree in Sports Administration.
