Paolo Carbone
Head Men's Soccer Coach & Camp Director - Cabrillo College
Coach Paolo Carbone is one of the most accomplished and influential soccer developers on the West Coast, bringing elite coaching expertise across youth, collegiate, and professional environments to Nike Soccer Camps. With decades of experience building championship programs, guiding youth players to the highest levels, and shaping talent across national and international pathways, Carbone’s leadership offers a rare blend of world‑class insight and proven player‑development success. From early grassroots growth to advanced collegiate progression, Paolo’s coaching philosophy drives real improvement for players of all ages and abilities.
Carbone began his Cabrillo College journey in 1999 as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach, immediately transforming the program by winning the first Coast Conference title in school history and finishing in the top eight in the state during his debut season. Over the next decade, he added three more conference championships (2003, 2005, 2008), cementing himself as one of the most successful coaches in the region. While leading the women’s program, Paolo also took charge of the Cabrillo men’s team, guiding the Seahawks to multiple Coast Conference titles, two CCCAA State Final Four appearances, and a national ranking as high as No. 6 by the NSCAA.
Beyond the college game, Carbone has had a major impact on youth soccer development in the United States, contributing to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, USL2 pre‑professional systems, and serving in pivotal leadership roles with top clubs. He co‑founded the prestigious De Anza Force Soccer Club, later joined Santa Cruz Breakers FC, and collaborated with AC Milan on camps and international training opportunities for American players. Paolo also played a key role in positioning Breakers FC as a founding member of MLS NEXT, helping shape the future of elite youth development in the Bay Area.
Carbone holds a U.S. Soccer Federation National A License and a master’s degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from Saint Mary’s College. His coaching education includes international workshops with FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Inter Milan, AS Roma, Fiorentina, and more, giving him rare access to some of the highest‑level training environments in world football. In 2017, he completed the USSF Academy Director Course, collaborating with MLS general managers, academy directors, and U.S. National Team staff.
Before his coaching career in the U.S., Paolo grew up in the legendary soccer hotbed of Paris, playing for the Paris Saint‑Germain (PSG) Academy, Racing Paris (Ligue 1), and AS Beauvais (Ligue 2). He later signed professionally in Italy with US Civitanovese, Imola, and Jesina, and later competed in the USL with the Monterey Bay Jaguars and Silicon Valley Ambassadors.
With unmatched international experience, championship‑caliber coaching success, and a lifelong commitment to player development, Coach Paolo Carbone brings world‑class knowledge and energy to every Nike Soccer Camp session.
