Rachel Ortell is entering her second season at Merrimack after spending the 2029-2020 at the University of Indianapolis.
At UIndy, Ortell helped a team that finished 18-2 and win the 2019 GLIAC regular and tournament championship. She helped coach UIndy’s goalie to one of their best seasons on the books, earning GLIAC goalie and Freshmen of the year, as well as IWLCA All-Region accolades.
As a player, Ortell stood in between the pipes of West region powerhouse Lindenwood University. She closed out her career at Lindenwood as a two time IWLCA All-American and was named the RMAC goalie of the year all four years. Ortell was also a four time IWLCA All-Region selection and finishing her career only allowing an average of 8.2 goals in per game.
Ortell graduated from Lindenwood in 2018 with a Recreation Administration degree. She is a native of Ellicott City, MD.
