Assistant Softball Coach, Utah Valley University

Renae Koppenhafer - Assistant Softball Coach, Utah Valley University

Renae Koppenhafer is the assistant coach for UVU Softball and serves as a lead coach for Next Athletes and Nike Softball Camps.

Renae Koppenhafer is entering her third season at Utah Valley. A native of Kennewick, Washington, Koppenhafer was previously the head coach at Yakima Valley College, a community college in central Washington, for the 2022 season. Koppenhafer led YVC to its most NWAC wins since 2013 and the most strikeouts from a pitcher in a single season in program history.

Prior to YVC, Koppenhafer was an assistant coach at Southern Utah University for the 2021 season where she worked primarily with catchers, outfielders, and overall development of players.

From 2012-2019, Koppenhafer coached in a variety of roles in the Hampstead, North Carolina area, including assistant coach and head coaching roles at Topsail High School. She also played a role in getting players on elite travel teams such as the Carolina Flames, NC Challengers, and Lady Lightning Gold. Numerous players she coached in that time went on to play at four-year colleges and universities.

Koppenhafer played collegiately at Augusta University, a Division II school in Georgia, from 2010-2012. Before that, she was a standout at North Idaho College from 2008-2010, where she was named to the NJCAA All-Region 18 First Team and the Region 18 All-Tournament team in 2009.

In 2023, Koppenhafer completed her Master's degree in Leadership from Grand Canyon University and has earned a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology/Health Science from Augusta University and an Associate's degree from North Idaho College. She also received her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification from Trinidad State Junior College. Koppenhafer and her husband, Cody Greenwalt, have four children, Jade, Colt, Penelope, and Emery.
