With a coaching career that spans 14 years, Rick Wheeler brings a wealth of experience to the pool. His journey began in Asia where he spent seventeen years, before returning to the United States in 2018. During his career, he has spent 13 years at PEAK Performance Swim Camp, both as a coach and as the business manager. This extensive experience has honed his skills and knowledge in the field of swimming and coaching. Working alongside Head Coach Nick Baker and other PEAK coaches has enriched his expertise and his ability to transfer his knowledge and passion to swimmers of all backgrounds.
His coaching philosophy is inclusive, catering to all levels of swimmers. From those just learning to swim to those swimmers with Futures Cuts, he is committed to helping each individual reach their full potential. He takes pride in having produced multiple record holders and assisting hundreds in achieving their goals in the pool, no matter the location. He thinks every swimmer has the ability to improve to reach their goals. The more they know about the sport, the more they will engage. He believes the technical and mental side of the sport are key to achievement and fast swimming. He is the head coach for the Lake Havasu Swim team, which has 70+ members ranging in age from 6 to 18.
