Ron DuBois enters his 8th season as UCSC Men's Head Coach. A highly acclaimed tactician amongst his peers, DuBois owns the unique distinction of being one of only four current NCAA coaches that has experience coaching in the NBA and as a FIBA certified coach. As Director of Camp Operations, DuBois oversees general camp operations as Kyle Bossier takes over daily on-site duties and instruction as camp director.

On September 1st, 2012, in the 31st year of the program history, DuBois was named the 9th head men’s basketball coach at UCSC. In a short time the Lodi, CA native has made himself at home. For the previous 3 consecutive seasons the Slugs have recorded double figure win totals and are experiencing the most successful stretch in school history. The 2014-15 season was one for the record books as the Slugs recorded the most Division III wins in a season, had the longest win streak in school history and seniors James Townsend and Marshal Arnwine Jr. were respectively named UCSC Male Athlete of the year and Most Inspirational Athlete of the year.

DuBois possess elite experience at the highest of levels of basketball. Having worked and coached in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns (2001-03) and Memphis Grizzlies (2007-09). While being one of the youngest assistant coaches in the NBA DuBois mentored under some of the top coaching minds in the world. DuBois was tasked with player development and worked with numerous NBA Stars such as Marc Gasol, Kyle Lowry, Joe Johnson, Mike Miller, Rudy Gay, Mike Conley, Shawn Marion, Pau Gasol, Amare Stoudamire, Damon Stoudamire and Stephon Marbury to name a few. DuBois has also coached FIBA recognized teams in the top professional leagues of France, Mexico, and a CARICOM (Caribbean Community) region National Team.

A distinguished player himself, DuBois earned a scholarship at Arizona State University. As a point guard in one of the strongest conferences in the country, he was named a team captain his senior year and earned all-academic Pac 10 honors in 1999. At Arizona State, DuBois majored in Education and received his B.A. in 1999 and M.A. in 2001.

Ron's wife, Rebecca, is a faculty member in UCSC's Biomolecular Engineering Department. They live in Santa Cruz with their two sons Louis and Dominic.
