Scott Lagas enters is in his eighth season as Head Coach in 2025-26. The team is presently in contention for a conference championship with a record of 13-1 and a NCAA tournament bid.
Mercy continued its success under Lagas in 2024-25, going 18-10 overall and 11-5 in ECC play. The Mavericks qualified for the ECC Championship for the fifth straight year and advanced to the Semifinals for the second consecutive year.
Lagas led the Mavericks to another historic season in 2023-24. Mercy went 20-10 overall, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1985. Lagas guided the Mavericks to their most wins since 1985, their most ECC wins (12) in school history and their first appearance in the ECC Championship Final. Mercy also posted their best regular season finish (second) in the ECC in program history and Lagas was named ECC Coach of the Year and Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Division II Women's Coach of the Year. Lagas has coached 11 all conference players , 2 preseason players of the year , a rooking of the year and a defensive player of the year in his time at Mercy.
