Shaun Webb

Shaun recently moved to Shreveport to assume the role of Director of Instruction at the David Toms Academy. Shaun was recognized by Golf Digest as one of the Top 40 instructors under 40 years of age and some of his golf tips have also been featured in Golf Digest. Shaun has also published his first book on golf instruction.

A native of Stonington, Maine, Shaun was introduced to golf by his father at the age of 5. After a successful high school and amateur career, a back injury in college restricted his playing career as a professional, so he turned to coaching and teaching where he quickly found out he had a passion for that side of the game.

Taking what he learned from some of the best instructors in the industry, including Sean Foley, Hank Haney, Mike Bender, Brian Mogg and Gary Gilchrist, Shaun has spent the last 13 years as a golf performance coach during which time he has worked with some of the world’s top players.

Over his career, Shaun has devoted himself to understanding the function of the body and how it relates to the golf swing. Because of this knowledge, he was recently selected to be on the K-Vest 3D bio-mechanics Advisory Board and is certified as a Titleist Performance Institute Golf Instructor. The education he received from these organizations has put him in an elite group of instructors that combines the latest in technology with time-tested training programs. In addition, he has added the utilization of Trackman Golf Radar to his coaching, which is the most accurate teaching and club-fitting tool in the world.

His experience with K-Vest and TPI led him to a position at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy where he was hired as the bio-mechanics instructor and certified coach. During his time at the Gilchrist Academy, Shaun worked with elite juniors and top professional golfers in the world, including the number 1 women’s player in the world: Yani Tseng and PGA tour players: Peter Hanson and Morgan Hoffman, along with over 20 PGA and LPGA tour professionals. Shaun has also coached nationally-ranked junior players who have won tournaments on the national junior level (American Junior Golf Association), several of which have received full golf scholarships to Division 1 universities.

Most recently, Shaun has worked at his own golf academy in Orlando, Florida where he provided performance coaching with programs that focused on 5 areas of improvement: Technique, Strategy, Mental, Fitness and Equipment. One of the highlights while running his own academy was coaching one of his students, Canadian PGA Tour Player Jesse Smith, at the 2013 US Open at Merion.
