Coach Jackson joined the Horned Frogs' staff in August 2012 after 17 years as associate head coach at his alma mater, Louisiana Tech.


Career Coaching Highlights:

  • Jackson’s jumpers have accumulated four NCAA titles, 17 All-America honors, and eight Big 12 titles.

  • A two-time Mid-East Region Coach of the Year (2006, 2008), Jackson helped Louisiana Tech earn 16 team conference championships.

  • In 2008, Jackson was named Assistant Coach of the Year by the USTFCCCA.

  • During his tenure at Louisiana Tech, where he coached sprints, jumps, and hurdles, 30 of the team's 43 school records were claimed by athletes Jackson mentored.

  • At Louisiana Tech, Jackson had 11 athletes earn 28 All-America honors and had his bulldogs win 76 conference titles, including 25 in relay events.

  • Jackson has coached athletes that have appeared in the Olympic Trials in the 100, 200 and 400-meter dashes, 400-meter hurdles, long jump, and triple jump.

  • Jackson helped the Louisiana Tech women's track and field program earn seven consecutive outdoor track and field conference titles from 2005-11.

Career Highlights as Student-Athlete:

  • From Buffalo, N.Y., Jackson was a competitor for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs from 1990-92.

  • Competed in the 4x100-meter relay title in 1992.

  • Finished his degree in general studies from Louisiana Tech in 1994. He went on to earn his Master's in sports science from LA Tech.

Top Athletes Coached:

  • Chengetayi (Du) Mapaya (TCU) - 2x NCAA Champion in the triple jump, 5x Big 12 Champion, 9x All-American. Qualified for the World Championships in 2022. Broke his own school record to win his second NCAA Championship at 17.26m (56-7.0). Finished the 2022 outdoor season undefeated. Was the 2022 NCAA Indoor Bronze Medalist. In 2018 he finished third in the triple jump at the NCAA indoor meet and finished third at both conference meets. At the NCAA outdoor meet, Mapaya finished one spot behind Newton and finished fifth.
  • Lorraine Ugen (TCU) – 2x NCAA Champion, 2014 Big 12 Champion in the long jump, qualified for three world championships (2012, 2014, 2016), made the British Olympic team in 2014, earned a bronze medal at the 2016 world indoors. Had the top long jump in the world in 2018 reaching 7.05m (23-1).
  • Chelsea Hayes (La-Tech.) - 2012 Olympian, qualified for the Olympics with a jump of 7.16m (23-3 ½) to finish second and punch her ticket to London. Earned All-America honors six times, won 14 WAC Championships, earned WAC Female Athlete of the Year in 2012 and was named All-WAC on 18 occasions.
  • Trey Hadnot (La-Tech.) - earned seven WAC titles and multiple All-America honors. Hadnot's work with Jackson landed him a bronze medal at the USA Junior Championships and a spot on Team USA at the Pan American Junior Championships.
  • Scotty Newton (TCU) – 2x Big 12 triple jump Champion, two-time First-Team All-America honors in 2018, and set the school record for both seasons, finished fourth at the NCAA meet in 2018. In 2017, Newton earned the first Second-Team All-America honors of his career in the outdoor long jump, outdoor triple jump, and indoor triple jump. In 2016, he placed runner up and third at conference. As a freshman Newton finished third and fourth in the triple jump at the Big 12 indoor and outdoor championships.
  • Destiny Longmire (TCU) - was named a 2020 All-American before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. First-Team All-America in 2019 in both indoor and outdoor seasons, placing fourth at both national competitions. Jumped a personal-best 6.55m at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Championships. 2019 Big 12 indoor long jump champion. 2020 Big 12 indoor long jump runner-up. 2019 Big 12 outdoor long jump runner-up.
  • Cameron Echols-Luper (TCU) - 2015 Big 12 long jump Champion, First-Team All-America honor at the national meet in 2015. Outdoors, Echols-Luper finished ninth at the national meet and garnered Second-Team honors.
  • Grace Anigbata (TCU) - Qualified for both the 2022 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships in the triple jump. At the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Anigbata garnered Second Team All-America honors. She set the school record at the NCAA West Regional with a jump of 13.48m (44-2.75).
  • Ramone Bailey (TCU) - recorded a top 10 placement at the Big 12 Championships for the second-straight year in the 2013-2014 indoor season, finished 8th at the 2014 Big 12 Championship in the long jump.
  • Cameron Parker (TCU) - earned three second-place finishes in his 2013 season, improving his season-best in each of those three meets. His season-high mark of 7.40m (24-3 ½) was achieved at both the Big 12 Indoor Championships and the Texas A&M Invitational. Parker wrapped up his TCU career with a fifth-place finish in the triple jump at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Parker, who also won the Big 12 title in the triple jump, improved his PR to 16.22m (53-2 ¾).
  • Makaila Flannigan (TCU) and Jazzmine Folston (TCU) combined for five top-10 finishes in the 2013-14 season.
  • Anna Robinson (TCU) - recorded eight top-10 finishes during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, including a third-place distance at the Michael Johnson Invitational in the 2013-2014 season.
