Special Jennings

Head Coach

Special Jennings - Head Coach

Special Jennings enters her third season as head coach of the Jacksonville University women’s basketball team in 2025–26, continuing to build a strong foundation for the program. Over her first two seasons, the Dolphins have recorded a 25–37 overall mark (14–20 in ASUN play), showing steady growth and competitiveness in the conference.

Jennings has already made a significant impact, mentoring standout players such as Edyn Battle, who earned ASUN Newcomer of the Year honors and was named First Team All-ASUN in back-to-back seasons. She also guided Saniyah Craig to a unanimous selection on the ASUN All-Freshman Team, along with Third Team All-ASUN recognition. Craig finished the season as the only player in the ASUN to average a double-double in conference play and ranked top 10 nationally in rebounding.

Jennings was hired in April 2023 after a dominant three-year run at Montverde Academy, where she won back-to-back GEICO National Championships, went 68–6, and developed 16 future Division I players, including McDonald’s All-Americans. She was also a Naismith Coach of the Year finalist and coached at the USA Basketball NIKE Hoops Summit.

Before Montverde, she coached at UIC (Associate Head Coach), Flagler, and Augusta, and began her college coaching career at Wright State. Jennings is a Cleveland native and former Xavier point guard, where she started 115 straight games, won four Atlantic-10 titles, and made an Elite Eight run in 2010. She also played professionally in Finland and Germany before moving into coaching.
