Stesha carle bio

Stesha Carle is the Head Coach of the Women's Rowing team at University of San Diego.

After a decorated four-year collegiate rowing career at the University of Michigan, Carlé competed with the U.S. National Team and won three silvers at the World Championships- one in the W4+ in 2008 and two in the W4x in 2009 and 2011. Her silver in 2009 and 2011 were at the time the highest the United States had ever finished in the event. She went on to capture gold medals in the W1x, W2x and W4x in the 2014 National Championships. Using her seven-year national team experience, she was also a runner-up at the Olympic Trials in 2016.

While rowing with the nationally-ranked Michigan program, Carlé helped guide the Varsity 8 to a second place finish at the NCAA Championships in 2003 as well as third place finishes in 2004. As a team, Michigan finished in the top-four in 2003 and 2004, lifted by Carlé and the Varsity 8's performances. In addition to her time as a Wolverine, Carlé rowed for the national U23 team in 2005 (gold medal in the W4-) and 2006 (4th in the W2-).

A native of Long Beach, Carlé has also worked with the Long Beach Rowing Association and the Southern California Sculling Club in Huntington Beach, Calif. She joined USD in 2017 as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. She was promoted to Head Coach September 2019.
