Tara Peterson, ATC

Tara Peterson is currently working as a professor in the Athletic Training Program at Western Carolina University. She moved into the position after working for three and a half years as the assistant athletic trainer at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine.

Previously she worked as assistant athletic trainer and assistant professor at Barton College in Wilson, NC, and as the head athletic trainer at Buchholz High School in Gainesville, FL. Her other clinical experiences include working as assistant athletic trainer in the WNBA with the Connecticut Sun for the 2005 and 2006 seasons, and with the Minnesota Lynx for the 2007 season. Also, for eight years she has worked as part of the medical staff for the USA Field Hockey National Festival. After growing up in Bristol, CT, Tara earned her Bachelor’s in Athletic Training from University of New England in 2005 where she was a member of the women’s basketball team, and her Masters in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology from the University of Florida in 2007.Tara has served as the camp Certified Athletic Trainer for the past six summers.
