Toshina Jessamy

Toshina Jessamy joined the Averett University women's basketball program as an assistant coach in July 2017. Previously, she worked as a skill development coach with the men's and women's basketball teams at Division III Mitchell College, her alma mater.

Jessamy, a native of Hartford, Connecticut, played two seasons at Mitchell, where she earned academic all-conference honors from the New England Collegiate Conference. While at Mitchell, Jessamy also served as a representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She began her collegiate career at Division II Post University, where she played one season after redshirting her first year with the Eagles.

Jessamy has a wealth of coaching experience. In addition to serving as a skill development coach at Mitchell from January to June 2017, she also coached the Windsor High School freshmen and junior varsity girls basketball programs during the 2016-17 season, guiding the freshmen to an 11-0 record and the junior varsity team to a 7-3 mark. While missing a season due to injury at Mitchell, Jessamy was a student assistant coach during the 2014-15 season. Jessamy's background also includes time coaching AAU basketball and camps.

Jessamy earned her bachelor's degree in business marketing from Mitchell in 2016. She is currently pursuing her master's of business administration from Averett.
