Tracy Mauntler returns for her 19th season as Toledo’s head women’s tennis coach for the 2021-22 season.

Since coming to Toledo, Mauntler has improved the program from an eighth-place finish in 2002-03 to program-best second-place league finish in 2021. She is the winningest head coach in program history, currently sitting at 203. Mauntler has coached the Rockets to 10 winning seasons, including 14 or more wins in 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2013-14, 2017-18, and 2020-21, and a program-best 16-6 mark in 2006-07. Along with making seven trips to the MAC Championship Semifinals, she has also landed 15 entries onto the All-MAC First and Second teams (First team: five, Second team: 10).

Making its highest MAC finish in program history, the 2020-21 squad compiled a 15-7 overall record and 11-3 mark in league play, finishing second in the MAC. The Rockets finished the season on a nine-match win streak, and capped the season by overcoming a 3-0 deficit to defeat the 2021 MAC Champion, Ball State. Cassie Alcala was named the MAC Freshman of the Year following the season, the first Rocket to earn the recognition since 2007. Acala was also named First Team All-MAC, becoming the first honoree from the Rocket program on the list since 2010, while Sloane Teske collected Second Team All-MAC accolades.

Having another over-.500 season in 2018-19, Mauntler guided the Rockets to an overall record of 11-10, highlighted by a 4-3 win over the defending MAC Champion, Buffalo. Senior women's tennis player Claire Aleck was named the Leann Grimes Davidge Sportsmanship Award honoree by the Mid-American Conference for the 2019 season, while also seeing Eileen Carney and Christina Fuller garner Singles Player of the Week honors from the league.

The 2017-18 season saw Toledo go on a Cinderella run. Toledo tied the program record for most wins in a season after going 16-7 (5-3 MAC). The No. 3 seed in the tournament, Toledo reached the semifinal round for the first time since the 2008-09 season. Senior Sidnay Huck was selected to the All-MAC Tournament team for going undefeated throughout the tournament. During this season, the Midnight Blue and Gold went on a month-long, six-match winning streak, saw Huck and junior Kokoro Chishaki earn back-to-back doubles team of the week awards, and featured the conference's only undefeated doubles team in senior Colleen O'Brien and sophomore Dee Dee Leenabanchong (16-straight matches). For their dominant performances, O'Brien received the Leann Grimes Davidge Sportsmanship Award and Leenabanchong earned Second Team All-MAC honors following the season.

Following the season, Toledo as a whole was awarded the Jacoby Trophy as the top women's athletic program in the Mid-American Conference. Additionally, Colleen O’Brien became the first Rocket since Emily Mazzola in 2013 to be awarded the Leann Grimes Davidge Sportsmanship Award by the conference.

Pia Rygh earned Second Team All-MAC accolades after the completion of the 2014-15 season, which saw the Rockets post 13 wins. Mimi Kendall-Woseley became the next postseason All-MAC honoree for Toledo with her Second Team All-MAC placement in 2016-17.

Beginning in the 2008-09 season, Mauntler guided six Rockets to All-MAC recognition in four-straight seasons. Maha Guirguis earned All-MAC first team honors, while Martina Wodzinski was named to the All-MAC Tournament team following the year. The Rockets finished the 2009-10 season at 12-7, led by First-Team All-MAC honoree Martina Wodzinski and Second-Team All-MAC Maha Guirguis.

In 2010-11, the Rockets concluded the season with a 13-10 record, good for fourth place in the MAC, with senior Ashley Frey selected to both the Second Team All-MAC and Academic All-MAC teams. Kelsey Anonsen rounded the All-MAC selections with a second team nod after the 2011-12 campaign.

Setting the program’s single-season wins record in 2006-07, the Rockets went 16-6 overall with a 7-3 mark in MAC play. En route to a third-place finish, Toledo beat Miami for the first time in program history, while also making it to the MAC Championship semifinals for the first time under Mauntler. Following the impressive campaign, Martina Wodzinski was named the Newcomer of the Year and Second Team All-MAC, while Myriam Cueva garnered her second First Team All-MAC accolade.

Mauntler coached her first All-MAC selection in the 2004-05 season, guiding Myriam Cueva to first team honors. Cueva and her doubles partner, Eunice Paravicini, would each earn second team recognition following the 2005-06 season after going undefeated at the No. 1 doubles spot in the MAC.

Not only have Mauntler’s teams done well on the courts, but they have excelled in the classroom too. In the fall of 2008, the team posted a 3.669 cumulative GPA, which ranks as the third-highest in the athletic department's history.

Mauntler was a four-year standout at Bucknell University. She served as team captain during the 1999-2000 season and received the "Coaches Award" in 1999 and the "Leadership Award" in 2000. Mauntler helped lead the Bisons to the conference finals in her sophomore and junior years. She graduated in May 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in education with a concentration in counseling. She returned to her alma mater in August 2000 to complete her teaching certification, and served as assistant women’s tennis coach for the 2000-01 season.

Mauntler has been a USPTA certified professional since 1999, was also a board member of the Harford County Tennis Association where she was involved with marketing tennis programs to the community.

Aside from playing tennis, Mauntler and her team are regularly active in the Toledo community. Most recently, Mauntler has partnered with the NW Ohio Special Olympics program to mentor and teach participants how to play tennis. Other community outreach initiatives include volunteering at Trinity Episcopal Church, hosting tennis clinics for the Girl Scouts of Northwest Ohio, participating in National Women and girls in Sports Day by teaching tennis to young girls, making brunch at the local Ronald McDonald house, visiting residents at Sunset Village, and working with Clean your Streams to beautify Toledo.

She received her master’s degree in recreation and leisure studies from Toledo. Mauntler, formerly Tracy Honko, was married to former Toledo men’s golf coach Jamie Mauntler in Aruba in January 2007. The two currently reside in Toledo with their sons Jace (born July 2009) and Trey (born Nov. 2013), and Brooks (born Aug. 2016).
