Verek Visaraga

Director

Verek Visaraga - Director

Verek Visaraga was named the Warriors' head coach when the tennis program was reinstated in 2007 to start play in 2008-09. A former men’s tennis student-athlete at Cal State Stanislaus, Visaraga immediately turned the Warriors’ women’s tennis program into national prominence. Visaraga has led the Warriors to two NCAA regional championship appearances in the program’s first three years and was ranked in the national poll each season.

When women’s tennis was still a part of the California Collegiate Athletic Association, the Warriors challenged defending champion UC San Diego each season before finishing second for two consecutive years. In 2012, the Warriors captured the prestigious Ojai Independent College team championship, as well as a doubles championship for Verena Preikschas and Katie Eng.

Visaraga has coached and produced three All-Americans including Preikschas, the most decorated tennis player in Cal State Stanislaus history. Preikschas was a four time All-American and a four-time ITA Academic All-American. She was a 2012 NCAA Woman of the Year top 9 finalist.

As the head coach of the Stanislaus tennis program, Visaraga is instrumental in securing scholarship and operation funding for the team. He also help led the Warriors to a high academic standard as his squads maintained a team GPA between 3.28 and 3.50 annually. His teams have won the University’s Academic Team award twice (2010 and 2011).

Prior to his arrival on campus, Visaraga has worked as a tennis professional at the Brenda Athletic Club and served as head coach of both the boys and girls tennis teams at Turlock High School. In 1992-2000, he was the tennis director at Brenda Athletic Clubs, where he worked and developed junior players to national rankings and numerous Division I scholarships.

Outside of his duties as the Warriors’ head coach, Visaraga is also a physical education and algebra teacher at Turlock Junior High School. He is 1991 graduate of CSU Stanislaus with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education.
