Whitney cyr

Whitney Cyr is currently serving as the Director of Track and Field | Cross Country at Assumption University in Worcester, MA. Since her start as the throws coach in September, Cyr’s athletes have broken school records in the men’s indoor 400, indoor shotput, weight throw, and the men’s outdoor 4x100m relay, 100m, 200m, shotput, and discus throw.

One of Cyr’s athletes, Tre’Sean Bouie, was ranked 20th in NCAA Division II in the indoor 200 and 22nd in Division II in the 400, winning the Northeast 10 conference championship in the 400 and getting second in the 200. Two of her athletes were the recipients of the NE10 Conference’s Men’s Track Rookie of the Year and the Field Rookie of the Year.

Prior to Assumption, Cyr was the Associate Head Coach as well as a strength and conditioning coach at Franklin Pierce University for eight years. During her time in Rindge, NH, the program produced 113 Northeast-10 Champions, 88 All-New England recognitions, 18 All-Americans, and a Division II National Champion in 2019.

Most recently, Cyr’s throwers at Franklin Pierce University won the individual conference championship in the men’s weight throw and indoor women’s shotput in 2022, and the women’s outdoor shotput and women’s discus titles in 2021. Cyr won the women’s NCAA East Region Division II Assistant Coach of the Year Award following a successful outdoor season where her throwers scored 42 points alone at the 2021 Outdoor NE10 Championship. Additionally, she has coached three javelin athletes, a hammer thrower, and a shotputter to NCAA Division II Championship provisional qualifying marks.

Cyr graduated from Keene State College in 2013, where she was a multiple time All-Conference thrower in the shotput, weight and hammer under the guidance of current UMass Amherst throws coach, John Napolitano.
