Will Leonhart
Assistant Coach
Coach Will Leonhart brings his expertise to the Northern Colorado Swimming camp after extremely successful coaching stints at the club and collegiate level.
Most recently, he served as assistant coach and men’s recruiting coordinator at the University of Alabama from 2014-2017 where he worked under Olympic and hall of fame coaches Jonty Skinner and Dennis Pursley. He assisted the men’s and women’s teams to their highest finish at the NCAA Championships in over 10 years.
During his tenure, the Crimson Tide produced 6 Olympic qualifiers, 4 NCAA Champions, 5 SEC Champions, 18 U.S. Olympic Trials qualifiers, 67 NCAA All-American Honors, 45 school record breaking swims, 5 First Team Academic All-American Honors and boasted the Highest GPA among scoring teams at the NCAA Championships.
Prior to Alabama, Leonhart was based in the Salt Lake City, Utah area where he was the head age group coach for Wasatch Front Fish Market, the most successful club program in Utah today. He led the program to its first age group state championship and helped it reach USA Swimming Bronze Medal status in its 4th year of existence.
Leonhart designed the age group stroke progression and teaching model that WFFF still uses today that has produced multiple Junior National team level athletes and national age group top 10 ranked performances. As an athlete, he was a four year Letter winner for the University of Utah men’s swimming team, an athletic scholarship recipient and 4 time Mountain West Championship finalist. He graduated from Utah in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science.
