Alec Scott Northern Colorado Swim

Alec Scott was named assistant coach of the women’s swimming and diving program at Northern Colorado in July of 2017.

Scott came to UNC after spending the previous year as a volunteer assistant at the University of Alabama where he assisted with a training group that produced two SEC Champions and 3 NCAA All-Americans.

A native of Denver, Colorado, Scott attended Regis Jesuit High School where he swam for Mike Doherty, helping the Raiders to 3 Class 5A Colorado State Championships. He swam club for Nick Frasersmith at Denver Swim Academy alongside future Olympic Gold Medalist and American Record holder Clark Smith.

Scott swam collegiately at Indian River State College where he was the 2014 NJCAA men’s swimmer of the year as a sophomore. After two seasons in the junior college ranks, Scott transferred to Alabama, finishing his collegiate career with the Crimson Tide, he went on to represent Alabama at the 2016 SEC Championships and was also a 2016 Olympic Trials qualifier.

In his first season as assistant coach, Scott helped the Bears win 3 conference championships, achieve 4 NCAA ‘B’ qualifying standards, break 7 school records, produce 7 medals and 7 additional podium finishes, had 39 lifetime best performances and Petra Kis was named freshman of the year at the WAC Championships on their way to scoring over 100 more points than in 2017 edition of the meet.

Scott graduated from the University of Alabama in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism.
