Lexington, Kentucky native and former Eastern Kentucky University men’s golf team member Will Sallee was chosen as the assistant coach for the EKU men’s and women’s golf teams in January 2021.

During the 2020-21 season, Sallee helped the women’s team to a pair of tournament wins, four top-5 performances in six events and a second place finish at the conference championship. The team posted the third-best scoring average in program history. Ragnhildur Kristinsdottir set a new program record with a 72.89 stroke average. Senior Diana McDonald (74.67) posted the fourth-best single season average in EKU history. Both players earned all-conference honors and all-tournament recognition. Eastern’s 286 during the first round of the 2021 Colonel Classic tied for the second lowest in program history.

Sallee assisted the men’s team to five top-10 finishes in seven events during the 2020-21 season.

Sallee was a graduate assistant for the two programs in 2019-20, helping the women’s team finish in the top-10 in four of its seven events and the men’s team to five top-10 performances in seven events.

“We are very fortunate to have Will in a full time assistant position with us,” women’s golf head coach Mandy Moore said. “He brings a love for EKU, a great playing career, teaching and caddy experience, and is passionate about helping our players. He is a huge part of our player development and success.”

Sallee was an assistant men’s golf coach at Transylvania University for the 2018-19 season. He also spent the summer of 2019 as a caddy for professional golfers on the European Tour, Korn Ferry Tour and Mackenzie Tour.

In four years as a member of the golf team at EKU (2014-18), Sallee earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors and was named to the OVC All-Tournament Team three times each.

During his sophomore season, Sallee led the team and was eighth in the league with a 73.71 stroke average. He capped his season with a second place showing at the OVC Tournament where he finished with a three-round total of 214 (-2).

He recorded a third and fifth place finish in the OVC Tournament during his junior and senior years, respectively.

Sallee earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management at Eastern Kentucky in May 2018. In the fall of 2020, he completed a master’s degree in exercise and sports science with an emphasis in sport administration. He was chosen as a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar twice by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
